Synopsis
Ralph is thrilled when he is promoted to assistant cashier of the Gotham Bus Company. While preparing to put the week's receipts in the company safe, Ralph is distracted by his pal Norton, and the safe automatically closes, not to open again until Monday. Calmly, Ralph scoops the money into a paper bag and takes it home, intending to put it in the safe at the beginning of the next work week. That night, the safe is blown up by a gang of crooks -- and when Ralph shows up Monday morning with the bag full of bucks, the cops jump to the obvious conclusion. Humphrey Davis appears as Ralph's boss, Mr. Marshall. "A Promotion" was originally telecast January 22, 1955, as a 39-minute sketch on The Jackie Gleason Show.
