Synopsis
Sensing that Gene Starwind might eventually cast a shadow over their operations, Hazanko, leader of the seven, has sent Shimi out to deal with Gene, Jim, and the rest. His aim is to reclaim the XGP, also known as the Outlaw Star. That there are seven separate entities in the group, each with individual powers, bodes ill for Gene's life expectancy. Jim analyzes the group's finances, which underwhelms Gene. Aisha plays video games, which irritates everyone. Aisha brings up the Galactic Leyline again, and the treasure that's there. Gene gets called out by a mysterious voice outside. It's Shimi. Shimi announces that he wants to kill Gene, but he wants to do it as a game. Gene clashes with him and Shimi earns his respect. The confrontation is put off for 24 hours so Gene can prepare. Gene gets a little advice from an older guy named Leilong as he drinks alone in a local watering hole. Jim ponders his fate with Gilliam. Gene's drinking drives a wall between him and Melfina, causing him to ask questions about his own existence. Gene dreams. Gene takes out the first adversary, but finds that Shimi is really someone he has recently gotten to know. The battle ensues, but it looks bad for Gene. Shimi has more resources, but all of Gene's friends stand by him. They take Shimi on, each in turn through single combat, but do not prevail. In fact, they hardly slow Shimi down. Because he has an interesting sense of justice, Shimi challenges Gene to a combat by single shot. If Gene dies, there is no show, right? The finale to this episode is worth the price of admission, and don't count anyone out until Lady Aisha sings.
