Synopsis
As screened on the Military Channel, the documentary series Combat Zone pulls viewers "inside" of noted armed conflicts, military missions and wartime turning points from the late 20th and 21st century. Each episode hones in on one such event, with everything shot through the soldiers' eyes. In each case, dramatic reenactments (featuring professional actors) are used to transport audiences back to the place and time in question. Per its title, the episode entitled "Invasion of Grenada (Operation Urgent Fury, 1983)" hearkens back to the fall of 1983, when an extremist Marxist group opted to wrest control of the government of Grenada - thereby igniting a blizzard of artillery fire and forcing the U.S. government to shuttle in a task force to rescue the 800 American students whose lives were put at risk by the conflict.
