Episode Guide
Patrol Boat Rescue, Vietnam
Series: Combat Zone
Synopsis
As screened on the Military Channel, the documentary series Combat Zone pulls viewers "inside" of noted armed conflicts, military missions and wartime turning points from the late 20th and 21st century. Each episode hones in on one such event, with everything shot through the soldiers' eyes. In each case, dramatic reenactments (featuring professional actors) are used to transport audiences back to the place and time in question. The episode entitled "Patrol Boat Rescue (Vietnam, 1969)" transports audiences to the North Saigon River at the tail end of the 1960s, when the Vietcong decided to use the North Saigon River to reel in supplies and artillery - leaving a cadre of thirty men from the United States Navy, manning six tiny boats, to fight for their lives.
