Synopsis
As screened on the Military Channel, the documentary series Combat Zone pulls viewers "inside" of noted armed conflicts, military missions and wartime turning points from the late 20th and 21st century. Each episode hones in on one such event, with everything shot through the soldiers' eyes. In each case, dramatic reenactments (featuring professional actors) are used to transport audiences back to the place and time in question. The episode entitled "Triangle of Death (Iraq, 2004)" travels back to a point when - just prior to the free elections mounted by the United States government in Iraq - veritable bedlam erupted in the region just south of Baghdad, rife with bombings, looting, decapitations and all sorts of other horrors. In response, the U.S. Marines attempted to reestablish sanctity and security in the area by driving out enemy forces.
