Synopsis
After a massive earthquake, the megacity of Tokyo rises triumphant from the ashes, largely thanks to Genom Corporation's Boomers -- robots with human organs that perform most of the heavy labor. Now, in 2040, the shadow of Genom falls over Tokyo both literally and figuratively, with Boomers spontaneously going mad, killing and destroying everything in sight. Two forces try to combat the Boomer problem: the special AD Police, and the Knight Sabers -- a shadowy vigilante group of three women with special armor ("hardsuits") and weaponry. The episode opens with country girl Linna Yamazaki arriving in Tokyo to start her new job as an office lady at Genom. On her first day, she has an encounter with an aggressive girl on a motorcycle who nearly runs her over. Later, while on a date with a pushy office manager, she sees a poster for the popular singer Priss Asagiri and realizes that she was the girl on the motorcycle. Linna and the manager end up going to a club, which is later attacked by a rogue boomer. Linna is saved from certain death by one of the Knight Sabers, and even through the faceless hardsuit she recognizes her savior as Priss. The following night, Linna confronts Priss and reveals what she knows -- and asks to join the Knight Sabers.
