Synopsis
All over Britain there are important archaeological sites too dangerous to access because of their location. Dr Mark Davies leads Exa - a crack team of young archaeologists - to the Wye Valley in South Wales, to try to uncover the foundations of a Roman Bridge spanning England and Wales. Their mission is to record and recover important artefacts and evidence before they are lost to the erosive effects of climate change, development and the ravages of time. With the second largest tidal range in the world and the site surrounded by lethal mudflats, how will the team manage to take the critical sample they need to establish the date of the foundations that remain? And using dendro-chronology to date the piece, will they finally be able to establish proof of the first Roman bridge between England and Wales?, The team tackle the River Wye, on the English-Welsh border, to identify a mysterious structure that has puzzled locals and archaeologists for years.
