Synopsis
All over Britain there are important archaeological sites too dangerous to access because of their location. Tonight Dr Mark Davies leads EXA - a crack team of young archaeologists - to Tintagel, which is most closely associated with the legend of King Arthur. Excavations conducted during the 1990s have revealed structural evidence of Roman occupation in the area and there is a growing body of evidence to suggest that Tintagel was a fortified island engaged in high status trading activity with the Mediterranean world.
