Synopsis
Easily irked hotel owner Basil Fawlty (John Cleese) decides his establishment needs a bit of sprucing up. Hoping for good word of mouth, he bends over backwards to please his new guest, Lord Melbury (Michael Gwynn). However, Polly (Connie Booth) has to break the news to Basil that Melbury isn't a member of royalty at all when a policeman informs her the hotel's new guest is actually a notorious confidence man.
