Synopsis
Identity issues rear their ugly heads when Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) is asked to appear in a fashion charity show that will include both models and regular people. While Carrie is debating whether or not to exhibit her body to a room full of strangers, Samantha (Kim Cattrall) decides to have nude photos taken of herself. But her insistence that the photos are for herself is compromised by her disgust at the male framer's indifference to them. Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), meanwhile, faces some identity issues of her own when she is asked out by Dave (Daniel Travis), a guy at her gym. Oblivious to her own sex appeal, Miranda finds new self-confidence on her first date with Dave, but when she exudes sexy confidence on their second date, Dave tells her that she's full of herself and that he's lost interest in her. Charlotte's (Kristin Davis) identity issues are limited to her nether regions; after discovering she has a condition known as "vulvodynia," she must come to terms with her inability to appreciate what lies beneath her navel. As for Carrie, after learning that she can keep whatever she models, she decides to appear in the fashion show, only to be outfitted in bejeweled lingerie. No sooner has she stepped onto the catwalk than she falls flat on her face, but her decision to rise to the occasion and finish her catwalk is an act of bravery that inspires all of her friends.
