As the spotlight moves back on to the impoverished streets of inner-city Baltimore and the violent gangs that rule them, a complex hierarchy of ambition, corruption and political infighting that both profits from and helps to perpetuate the city??s drug trade also begins to fall within its glow. The landscape in Baltimore is changing and with it the drug trade that ravages its streets. The imposing towers of Franklin Terrace, the housing project that was the bread and butter of the Barksdale gang??s business, have been razed and kingpin Stringer Bell attempts to rally his troops and put a new plan in place. But while some of Bell??s more lofty ambitions look set to drive a wedge between him and imprisoned gang boss Avon, a potentially greater threat looms on the h, Carcetti learns that a colleague is planning to run for mayor; Bubbles wears a wire in Amsterdam; Proposition Joe intervenes in the Avon-Marlo dispute; Cutty finds an unlikely ally in his quest to open a gym; gun violence disrupts a longstanding Sunday truce.
