Synopsis
Ted Danson plays Lemuel Gulliver in this sumptuous British production of Jonathan Swift's famous classic, supported by a roll call of some of the most famous names in the business. Edward Fox, Sir John Gielgud, Geraldine Chaplin, Robert Hardy, John Wells, Omar Sharif, and Peter O'Toole are just some of the stars featuring in this two part drama. Encompassing all parts of Swift's novel - including Gulliver's visits to Lilliput, where he is a giant, and Brobdingnag, where he is a mere six inches high - this adaptation promises to be a landmark in small screen drama. In the first instalment, Gulliver's absence has resulted in his home and practice being taken over by Dr Bates who has been urging Mary, (Gulliver's wife, played by Mary Steenburgen) to give her husband up for dead and marry him instead. When Gulliver returns, a shadow of the person he once was, Dr Bates and Mary are his audience as he relates his incredible adventures...
