Synopsis
When a statue of baby Jesus is stolen from a San Fernando Mission Church nativity scene on Christmas Eve, Father Rojas (Harry Bartell) implores Sgt. Friday (Jack Webb) and Officer Gannon (Harry Morgan) to recover the statue by Christmas Day. Tracking a suspect to a local residence hotel, the lawmen quickly find out that down-on-his-luck Claude Stroup's (Bobby Troup) only crime was being involved in an unreported and minor fender bender. Upon their return to the church to admit defeat to Father Rojas, the trio is stunned when a young boy nonchalantly drags a wagon that contains the missing statue down the aisle, explaining that he wanted to take baby Jesus for his first ride in the wagon he had received from a recycled toys program.
