Synopsis
Dan's drunken mishaps continue to hold the team up, while time is running out and the Mercedes still needs to be fixed. They arrive minutes too late to the border and are not allowed to exit Turkmenistan. The next day they also discover that they have broken the law by driving dirty cars, so they are no longer allowed to talk with locals, enter homes and are banished to the outskirts of town. Trabant Trek's future looks even more uncertain when they are imprisoned in a desolate compound, but to everyone's surprise they are released the next day and finally allowed to cross into Uzbekistan. As they are heading down the ancient Silk Road more drama develops and Marlena decides to leave Trabant Trek right before the team pushes on for Tajikistan. Looming ahead is the Pamir Highway - hundreds of miles of unpaved roads heavily damaged by erosion, landslides and avalanches.
