Synopsis
Twin Peaks, Vol. 3 is the third first-season episode of Twin Peaks, the offbeat, cult television serial created by David Lynch and Mark Frost. This installment, directed by Tina Rathbone, begins the morning after Agent Cooper's dream, in which Laura Palmer revealed to him the name of her killer. Unfortunately, Cooper has forgotten what she said, and he and Sheriff Harry Truman must continue the investigation, with the assistance of forensic expert Albert Rosenfeld; clues indicate the murder may be related to Laura's involvement with a local drug ring. Cooper's increasing knowledge of the town's dark side, and expressed desire to move to Twin Peaks after the crime is solved, leads Truman to introduce him to the Book House Boys, a secret organization designed to fight the evil inhabiting the nearby woods. Meanwhile, the town readies itself for Laura Palmer's funeral, and deals with the arrival of Madeline Ferguson, Laura's dark-haired but otherwise identical cousin. The funeral becomes an emotional public scene, featuring a fight between Bobby Briggs and James Hurley and more strange behavior from Laura's father Leland. The more disturbing, intensely emotional moments of the story are leavened by winking references, quirky comedy, and offbeat characters.
