Synopsis
As the wedding party wave Susan and Teddie off, an Indian woman throws herself at Merrick's feet in tears. She is Kumar's aunt Shalini. Shortly after this incident, Teddie and Merrick depart for the front line. Lady Manners, meanwhile, persuades the governor to look into Kumar's case. When the prisoner learns of Daphne's death, he breaks down and tells how Merrick mistreated him in prison. Lady Manners and the examining officer believe Kumar and he is released. Susan however , now several months pregnant, receives bad news.
