Synopsis

We return to Downton Abbey during the Roaring Twenties as the lives of its occupants adjust to the extraordinary social change brought on by the Great War. Viewers can expect to see Lady Mary's wedding to Matthew Crawley and a lesson in the power for the pound and the penny as the Crawleys await the arrival of Lady Cora's mother (played by Shirley MacLaine) in the hopes she will provide a cash injection into the family coffers. It has also been revealed that one key character won't make it through the dangerous era. Could there really be a death at Downton?, Edith is asked to pen a newspaper column; Isobel offers Ethel a position in her household; Matthew questions the management of the estate; Sybil goes into labor while Dr. Clarkson and an esteemed obstetrician Robert hired disagree about the delivery.
