Jayne Middlemiss has been practising Yoga for over a decade. She knows it's a big part of the Hindu religion, but beyond that it's a bit of a mystery to her. In The Beginner's Guide to... Yoga, she embarks on a personal journey of discovery that takes her along the Ganges, the holiest river in India, from Calcutta all the way to its source in the Himalayas, where she hopes to find the spiritual enlightenment that has so far escaped her. Yoga scholar Jim acts as Jayne's guide, bringing her to various sacred sites and introducing her to a series of gurus to help her on the road to enlightenment. Although she is initially frustrated by her experience, an extravagant purchase leads to a massive realisation and an emotional release.
