Performance artist Alexander Pushkin produces "patriotic" works designed protest the brutal dictatorship in his home country of Belarus as filmmaker Andrej Fidyk turns his lens on Europe's last autocracy. In Belarus, the intolerant government enjoys total and complete control over its citizens though fear and intimidation: Any human rights activist who dares speak out against the powers that be is persecuted and punished by a government that isn't above imprisoning and torturing those suspected of dissent. Thankfully, there are a brave few who remain undeterred by these tough intimidation techniques. Pushin is one of these men, a brave soul who always courts controversy, and delights in mocking the man whom many fear most - President Alexander Lukashenko. In a society of complete political control, nuclear pollution, and mass poverty, Pushkin has repeatedly put his life on the line to let the world know precisely what's happening inside Belarus, and now esteemed filmmaker Fidyk is determined to deliver the artist's important message to the rest of the free world.
