Hugo nevědomky zapříčinil, že o Bohumilovi jako o bývalém olympionikovi, který propadl alkoholu, vyšel hanlivý článek v deníku Třesk. Bohumil zmizí, štamgasti o něj mají strach a vyrážejí ho hledat do města. Když ho konečně najdou, zjišťují, že za Bohumilovým úprkem nebyl ani tak článek, jako setkání s jeho bývalou ženou a bolavé vzpomínky na dceru Aničku, kterou leta neviděl. Hanka s Hugem se rozhodnou postavit Bohumila zpět na nohy a vrátit mu vášeň pro to, co umí nejlíp - pro plavání. Hugo se pasuje do role jeho manažera a společně si vytyčí cíl, že Bohumil následující rok přeplave La Manche. Kapitánovi se zatím stále nedaří pozvat Boženku na rande a Standa s Laděnou zkoušejí vše možné i nemožné, aby Laděna otěhotněla.
