Synopsis
"Dazzled" was the first chapter of X-Men's four-part "Dark Phoenix" saga. The focus is on Jean Grey, whose spirit is still possessed by the Phoenix. As if the schizophrenia of two distinct personalities isn't enough, Jean has also attracted the attention of Jason Wyngarde of the Inner Circle Club. At the behest of the treacherous Emma Frost, Jason has convinced Jean that they have always been lovers, and in so doing he turns Jean against her fellow X-Men. Meanwhile, Scott, Jean's real sweetheart, is dazzled by sexy singer Dazzler. When originally broadcast during X-Men's 1994-95 season, "Dazzled" confused many viewers, who could not understand why Jean Grey had suddenly returned after being "killed" at the end of "The Phoenix Saga." The explanation was provided in an interim episode titled "No Mutant is an Island" -- which, for reasons that defy logic, would not be telecast until 1996.
