Synopsis
Do you believe in hauntings? Since time immemorial, people have believed in the dead returning from the grave to haunt the living. But haunting itself is not a technical term. Its a general description of a paranormal phenomenon usually recurring in one particular location. A haunting can incorporate ghosts, poltergeists, demonic possession?and really anything else that gives you the heebie-geebies. But are hauntings real? We examine three cases from around the world to see if science can explain what so many believers cannot. First, we head to Long Island and the famous case, which led to The Amityville Horror its the story of the Lutzes, who move into their dream house at 112 Ocean Avenue, only to find themselves running for their lives just 28 days later. But was this a real horror story or just a hoax? Next, we go to Wilder, Kentucky, to a supposedly haunted country and western bar Bobby Mackeys Music World complete with a mechanical bull?that is believed to turn on without power. Can science hoe down with the supernatural in this haunted honky tonk? Finally, we conduct our own experiment on hauntings by filming ghost enthusiasts who have agreed to spend the night in what is supposedly one of the most haunted places in the United Kingdom: Muncaster Castle. Will they even make it through the night? With psychologists Jason Braithwaite and Jim Houran, we will conduct tests on electromagnetic energy, carbon monoxide and infrasound to see if science can explain what many of us see when the lights go out. Join us in an intriguing investigation at the crossroads of science and the supernatural, with results that just might scare you to death.
