Synopsis
Survivor: Fiji gets started on a "pristine" Fijian Island, where this season's 19 contestants are swiftly deposited. Before long, some blueprints, supplies and a map are air-dropped, whereupon architect Sylvia Kwan takes charge of the preliminary camp construction. It is also Sylvia's responsibility to divide her 18 fellow castaways into two different tribes, the Moto and the Ravu--after which she is ignominously shunted off to snake-infested Exile Island, where she will remain until the first contestant is voted off and room is made for her in one of the tribes. After the initial challenge, a chariot race through the island's mud flats, the Moto tribe is rewarded with luxuries and the Ravu is stuck with the barest essentials. Nor is the Ravu much luckier after the first tribal council, in which their membership is reduced from nine contestants to eight.
