Frank Köhler, 17 Jahre, genannt Frankie, hat eine große Leidenschaft – das Gitarrenspiel. Ganz besonders mag er den Rock’n’Roll. Sein großes Vorbild ist sein Großvater Abbi, der selbst noch auf der Bühne steht und Konzerte gibt, und der Frankie bereits seit zehn Jahren in sämtliche Geheimnisse seiner Virtuosität einweiht. Dies geschieht allerdings heimlich, denn Vater Köhler, seines Zeichens Zahnarzt, hat ganz andere Pläne mit seinem Sohn. Er hält Musik bestenfalls für ein schönes Hobby, keinesfalls aber für berufsgeeignet. Da Frankie mit seinem Wunsch, Rockmusiker zu werden, bei seinem Vater nur auf Unverständnis stößt, bittet er den Großvater, doch bei ihm ein gutes Wort für ihn einzulegen.
