Synopsis
Drama follows the plight of aspiring tennis-star Peter Colt, whose bad luck seems to manifest itself just about everywhere. Professionally, Peter is near the very bottom of the world tennis ranks, and personally, he can't find love despite his best efforts to do so. In a rare turn of events, however, Peter is chosen as a wildcard to play at Wimbledon, the tennis world's most prestigious competition. While there, he meets American Lizzie Bradbury, the "bad girl of tennis", and his confidence on and off the court improves tenfold as he falls in love with her. Driven by his newfound luck, Peter climbs to the top of the tournament at record speed, until he actually has a chance of winning the men's singles title. Will his good fortune hold out long enough for him to get the trophy?, Tennis player Peter Colt (Paul Bettany) is about to retire, unable to fulfill his dream of becoming one of the world's top players. He holds position 119 in the world ranking, but, all the same, he is invited to play in Wimbledon. The traditional tournament, where he finds himself for the first time, seems the ideal place for a farewell, to start a new life the following day as a tennis coach, though the plan might not be very appealing. At the same championship is Lizzie Bradbury (Kirsten Dunst), heading for stardom and dating the American, Jake Hammond (Austin Nichols), another great figure in the circuit. But Peter and Lizzie happen to meet one day and their destiny starts to look different from what seemed unchangeable.
