Synopsis
Filmmaker Mary Mazzio presents this inspiring profile of four undocumented Mexican students from a Title I school who achieved the unlikely feat of winning an underwater robotics competition sponsored in part by NASA and the Office of Naval Research. Driven to succeed despite their lack of experience and resources, this talented group of teens would overcome the initial disappointment of seeing their robot fail in action, only to then concoct an ingenious solution for keeping it functional in the water. As a result, the ragtag team of innovators not only surprised everyone by beating out rival teams from a variety of prestigious schools including MIT for the top prize, but they also proved just how far enthusiasm and determination can take you when you refuse to give up in the face of certain defeat.
