Under the Tree
Synopsis
A neighbourly spat over the shadow cast by an old and beautiful tree quickly spirals out of control, with disastrous consequences. In Icelandic with English subtitles. (2017)(89 mins), Middle-age Icelandic couple Baldvin (Sigurður Sigurjónsson) and Inga (Edda Björgvinsdóttir) clash with their yuppie neighbors Konrad (Þorsteinn Bachmann) and Eybjorg (Selma Björnsdóttir) over the massive tree in their backyard, which casts a shadow over the neighbor's deck. After Baldvin and Inga's disappointing adult son, Atli, (Steinþór Hróar Steinþórsson) moves back home, the feud escalates from passive aggressive comments to paranoia and violence fueled by the frustrations in each couple's own lives. Co-written and directed by Hafsteinn Gunnar Sigurðsson.
