Poetická filmová komedie zasazená do prostředí hospody U Buddyho, kterou v malé říční zátoce vede hospodský Tonda a jeho družka Andula. V hospůdce se schází skupinka přátel, mezi nimi i Kája, který si mariášem s kamarády kompenzuje svůj sklon ke gamblerství. Kromě svého platu hlídače v galerii naspořil za léta pózování v převleku za kominíka při focení novomanželů slušnou částku, za kterou chce nyní manželce koupit dlouho slibovanou dovolenou u moře. Kája ale ve slabé chvilce prohraje veškeré úspory ve skořápkách na tržnici. Aby neztratil znovu nabytou lásku své ženy, požádá o pomoc své přátele od Buddyho. Společnými silami se jim nakonec podaří gang skořápkářů obehrát a peníze získat zpět. Pro Káju je prožitý strach ponaučením a ostatní si svým jednáním potvrdí své kamarádství a uvědomí si, jak je pro ně důležité.
