How Long Is “Tristana”?

A bleak comedy about the progress of an ethereally beautiful young woman - the Tristana of the title - and her relationships with two men following the death of her mother. Tristana is the object of the affections of both her elderly guardian, an impoverished landowner, and a romantic young artist. Director Luis Bunuel renders a sinister comic parable of twentieth-century Spanish life, After her mother dies, a teenager is left in the care of Don Lope, a respected, though shameless aristocrat in Spain. Don Lope falls for the innocent teen and successfully seduces her. Soon after, the affluent guardian must endure as the young woman begins a relationship with a young artist.
