Synopsis

Phil Agland, known to Channel 4 viewers for award-winning series including Beyond The Clouds and Shanghai Vice, makes his fictional feature film debut in this FilmFour funded adaptation of Thomas Hardy's classic novel. Emily Woof is the daughter of a sawmill owner who loves woodsman Rufus Sewell but is pushed into a 'better' marriage to doctor Cal MacAinch with tragic consequences.
