The Time Machine

George Pal's Oscar-winning film stars Rod Taylor as Victorian scientist H George Wells (a nod to the story's illustrious author), who invents a time machine. Travelling through the far distant future, with stop-overs for World Wars I, II and III, he finally ends up in the year 802,701. Here, he encounters the peaceful Eloi and falls for the beautiful Weena, but then finds that there is another race: the underground dwelling cannibalistic Morlocks who feast on the Eloi. Can he save the Eloi - and Weena - from their grisly fate?, The time traveler (Rod Taylor) invents a machine that transcends the boundaries of time and space. As each year passed, the window mannequin in the store across the street changes fashions with the times. He is able to increase the speed of the machine as seasons fly by in a matter of seconds. The traveler advanced millennia into the future and finds a group of people enslaved to the powers of a subterranean underworld. The film is taken from the novel by H. G. Wells.
