The Offence

After many years on the job, Johnson, a veteran British police officer, has accumulated an inner hoard of violence and brutality. As a policeman, he thinks he's better than the criminals he deals with, but in fact there is little difference, except that Johnson's violence is walled up inside of himself. Then Johnson is assigned to a child molestation case. A man named Baxter is accused of the crime. There is something about the case, and the accused, that sparks a lethal explosion in Johnson's self-control. Baxter himself immediately recognises Johnson's fatal attraction to violence, and perhaps Johnson himself is not really sure whether he was the victim of a sexual assault at a very young age.
