Isabel Wallace is sent to a women's mental asylum by her husband, who is also a well-respected minister. She claims she isn't insane, but her husband's reputation prevents her from acquiring any representation. While there, Dr. Benjamin Calhoun, the new administrator, experiments with a new form of treatment which involves the patients performing a theatrical production of "Moby Dick.".
