How Long Is “The Loved Ones”?

Sean Byrne's flick is a vivid, sexy rollercoaster of a film that takes the conventions of horror and runs it off the rails. But for two key events, Brent could be living an almost idyllic, happy life, surrounded by loving family and friends. However, that's discounting the enormity of those two events the death of his father; and catching the eye of a decidedly not-good woman. Brent was behind the wheel one night, when a ghastly vision made him swerve from the road and collide with a tree, killing his dad in the process. Unsurprisingly, it takes Brent a while to recover from the accident's psychological scars, but, with the help of his family and his girlfriend Holly, he gradually comes to terms with what happened. And it's at just this point that fellow pupil, and outcast, Lola takes a fancy to the lad, asking him to be her date at the school dance. When he declines, she doesn't take the rejection well - and gives Brent plenty of horrific reasons to regret turning her down..
