When Alex Rogan (Lance Guest), a bored Californian kid, sets a record score on the Starfighter video game in the local store, he doesn't realise it was a test and finds himself recruited to join the Star League to become a fighter against the evil Ko-Dan empire. Nick Castle's delightful film was one of the first to create all its special effects on computer and although cinematic technology has advanced a pace since then, both the story and the look of this film stand the test of time.
