קיבוץ ותיק ומבודד במרומי הגליל, נקלע לחובות כבדים ולתביעות מבנקים ונושים, עד שהוכרז כפושט רגל וננטש. הבוקר מוצא את הקיבוץ נטוש ושומם לחלוטין. שניים-עשר קשישים וקשישות המתגוררים בבית האבות של הקיבוץ והמטפל הסיני שלהם מתעוררים בבוקר שאחרי סגירת הקיבוץ. בתחילה שוקעים הזקנים בדכדוך וביאוש עמוק, אך בהמשך הם ומתחילים לתפקד כקומונה יעילה לכל דבר ומקימים מחדש את הקיבוץ, כפי שעשו שישים שנה לפני כן. קבלן אשר מתכוון להפוך את הקיבוץ השומם למרכז נופש, מופתע לגלות במקום את חבורת הקשישים ומודיע להם שעליהם להתפנות מהשטח לאלתר.בקרב הקשישים מתעוררת התנגדות וכמה מהם פותחים סליק ישן מתקופת הבריטים, ממקשים את הכביש ומתכוננים לקרב הגנה על ביתם.
