Мультипликационный фильм для детей по одноименной сказке Константина Паустовского. О том, как в одной деревне, во время войны, проходили кавалеристы. А на окраине села разорвалась мина и ранила лошадь, которая и осталась в деревне. И вот с помощью этой лошади, мельник починил мельницу и люди взяли кто сколько имел зерна и пошли на муку молоть. И был в этой деревне мальчик, который обидел лошадь, ударив ее и бросив под ноги хлеб. Все сразу изменилось, началась стужа, все замерзло. Но мальчик понял свою ошибку, попросил прощения у лошади и все стало по прежнему. А там и война кончилась.
