How Long Is “Still Crazy”?

In 1978, legendary British rock band Strange Fruit famously broke up onstage at the Wisbech Music Festival. In 1998, like apparently every other old band in existence, they try to reform for a reunion concert at Wisbech, thanks to their old assistant Karen (Juliet Aubrey). Twenty years have not always been kind, as Karen finds the band members in various states of distress. Keyboardist Tony (Stephen Rea) is a condom salesman; Les (Jimmy Nail), the bass player, is a roofer in the North of England; drummer Beano (Timothy Spall) is living in his mother's garden due to tax evasion; and lead singer Ray (Bill Nighy), while clinging to sobriety, is in the midst of an embarrassing solo career at the urging of his Swedish wife. Missing is Brian (Bruce Robinson), the lead guitar player who lost his mind. Hilarity ensues. Brian Gibson, the director of What's Love Got to Do With It? and The Juror, is in it for the comedy this time, with the film pitched at a level somewhere between the Canadian Hard Core Logo and the American This is Spinal Tap.
