Soursweet

In this British melodrama, Chinese newlyweds from Hong Kong endeavor to make a new start in London. First they find a small apartment. The husband then becomes a waiter at an enormous Chinese restaurant. Five years pass and a son is born. The wife's older sister then moves in. In time, the hardworking husband manages to start his own successful business. Unfortunately, he finds himself entangled in a struggle between rival gangs. The story is based on a novel by Timothy Mo.
