Synopsis
In 1928, Waldermar Nods moves from Suriname to the Netherlands. There he meets Rika, a woman 17 years older than him who ran away from her religious husband, taking their four children with her. The two start a relationship and get pregnant, and have to fight against racism to live their lives as a family. Their relationship becomes even more complicated when World War II starts.
