Synopsis
Songs and Bullets is one of a group of low-budget but not uninteresting B westerns produced by comedian Stan Laurel. Heading the cast is singing cowboy Fred Scott, here playing wandering troubador Melody Hardy (where did Mr. Laurel come up with that last name?) With the assistance of his sidekick Fuzzy (Al St. John), Hardy breaks up a cattle-rustling gang, pausing every so often to sing one of Lew Porter's sagebrush tunes. The ingenue is played by Alice Ardell, who for a brief period during the 1930s was Stan Laurel's girlfriend. The comedian also managed to wangle a brief stock shot from his previous Hal Roach production Way Out West for use during one of the establishing scenes in Songs and Bullets.
