"Sjøfolk forteller.." er en dokumentasjon fra hverdagslivet om bord og i land fra gullalderen i Norsk Skipsfart. Norske sjøfolk fra 1960 årene var den viktigste yrkesgruppen i Norge etter krigen. De seilte inn fremmed valuta som muliggjorde utviklingen av det velferdssamfunnet Norge er blitt. I filmen møter vi 2 stuerter, en telegrafist, maskinsjef, styrmann og kaptein, som alle seilte i utenriksfart i 60 årene. Foruten intervju med den enkelte kommenterer de egne opptak fra de 7 hav. Vi er med på linjedåp ombord, karneval i Trinidad, kjøring med dollarglis i ”junaiten”, fra Honda fabrikken i Japan, fra Antarktis i sør til Svalbard i nord følger vi våre hverdagshelter tett..
