SCHOCK, SCHWERE NOT ist der Titel des Dokumentarfilms über die Umstände und Ereignisse der Sturmflut des 17. Februar 1962 - genauer betrachtet im Rheiderland und in Völlen an der Ems. In Völlen brach der Deich, das führte zur Entlastung der Situation in Vellage und am Pogumer Deich. Im Film spreche ich mit Zeitzeugen jener dramatischen Tage. Es sind emotionale, mehr oder weniger detailgenaue Darstellungen - je nach Temperament und Erzählperspektive der Protagonisten. Die Zeitzeugen sind alle gute Beispiele dafür, wie subjektive Berichte zusammen ein Bild ergeben über ein Ereignis, dass auch 50 Jahre danach immer noch in den Köpfen der Menschen lebt. Denn fast wäre es in Ostfriesland zur Katastrophe gekommen - ähnlich wie seinerzeit in Hamburg.
