Movie
Saint Judy
Synopsis
Los Angeles immigration attorney Judy Wood (Michelle Monaghan) takes the case of an Afghan woman named Asefa (Leem Lubany), who fled her country after being threatened by the Taliban for opening a girls school. Asefa is being denied entry to the United States because women aren't considered part of a persecuted group. The case ends up going all the way to the United States Court of Appeals, where Judy challenges American asylum law to include women as a protected class. Directed by Sean Hanish. Based on a true story. Common, Alfred Molina and Alfre Woodard co-star.
