Judi Dench and Sophie Cookson play older and younger versions of Joan Stanley, a lab assistant who steals information about England's atom bomb and passes it to the Soviet Union during World War II. While a student at Cambridge, Stanley falls for a German communist and begins adopting his views. She decides the best way to guarantee peace is to make sure other countries have nuclear capabilities. Her actions eventually catch up with her decades later. Directed by Trevor Nunn.
