Western about the excesses of political ambition set against more traditional forms of law-breaking. A US marshall uses his pursuit of a bankrobber to boost his political campaign. The robber proves too cunning for him however, when he takes the marshall hostage and demands the return of the loot from his posse. There is only one way they can raise the cash to get the marshall back - they must rob a local town.
