Synopsis
As a crime wave sweeps through a major American city, the newly-elected mayor decides police academy entry requirements are too rigid, and he forces the academy to accept nearly anyone who applies. Among the flood of misfit new recruits are parking attendant Carey Mahoney; the girl of his dreams, Karen Thompson; gigantic florist Moses Hightower; and Larvell Jones, who has the uncanny ability to imitate virtually any sound. Commandant Lassard is the befuddled leader of the academy, and Lieutenant Harris is his scheming assistant. As they try to wash their hands of the hapless cadets, Mahoney and his classmates become all the more determined to impress.
