El cine histórico-político documental fue especialmente productivo durante el gobierno de Raúl Alfonsín. Durante esos años, los films que abordaron el pasado se caracterizaron por la intención de echar una mirada abarcadora sobre sucesos, a veces, muy distanciados en el tiempo y por mantener un discurso conciliador frente a cualquier diferencia partidaria. La repercusión que tuvieron algunos de ellos permitió suponer una influencia, más o menos indirecta, sobre el electorado a la hora de volcarse a las urnas. La película pone en foco los años del primer peronismo centrándose en las figuras de Perón y Evita desde una posición pretendidamente “objetiva”, basándose dicha condición en que se remite sólo a material de archivo de propaganda “oficial” del momento.
