Tonda, který byl bídou dohnán ke krádeži a Pepík, který se bohatě oženil, s penězi však vyženil také nepříliš věrnou manželku a hordu příbuzných, kteří jej málem dohnali k sebevraždě. Takže jsou na tom vlastně oba stejně. Kolem jejich vztahu je navíc rozehrána divoká honička za ukradeným šperkem, který neustále podstrkávají jeden druhému. V pořadí druhý film Voskovce a Wericha byl natočen v roce 1932, rok po uvedení jejich filmové prvotiny Pudr a benzín. Děj byl jednodušší než u prvního filmu a oba tvůrci se soustředili především na vytváření mnoha komických situací a gagů. Film natočil opět režisér Jindřich Honzl a jeho důležitou součástí byla opět hudba Jaroslava Ježka. Zazní tu nejen evergreen Život je jen náhoda v podání Hany Vítové a Ljuby Hermanové, ale také valčík Rej vážek, Beguine Hydroplan a Pochod stoprocentních mužů.
