Synopsis
Algerian director and co-writer Mounia Meddour's debut film unfolds in Algiers, 1997, during the Algerian Civil War. An aspiring fashion designer (Lyna Khoudri) decides to stage a defiant fashion show on her university campus to resist the growing fundamentalist pressure for all Algerian women to cover themselves up with hijabs and abayas.
